Star Coral (Karang Bintang) Spot

Star Coral — known locally as Karang Bintang — is one of Karimunjawa’s classic morning snorkeling stops, named for the coral colonies that fan out across the sandy seabed a few metres below the surface.

The water here is usually calm and glassy in the early hours, giving good visibility for spotting reef fish weaving through the coral and for underwater photos before the light gets harsher later in the day. Basic snorkeling gear — mask, fins, and a life vest — is provided as part of the package, so it’s a comfortable spot even for first-timers easing into the water.

It’s the usual first stop on the marine-tour day of the 2 Nights 3 Days Fun Experience package, timed so the group can enjoy calmer water before heading on to Geleang Island for lunch and Menjangan Besar for the shark sanctuary.
