Menjangan Kecil sits about 3 kilometres southwest of the main Karimunjawa Island — around 15 minutes by boat — and is one of the archipelago’s most consistently good snorkeling spots, thanks to calm currents and unusually clear water even by Karimunjawa standards.
Colourful coral reef sits close to the surface just off the beach, with reef fish — including the occasional clownfish darting between anemones — visible just metres from where the boat anchors, so there’s minimal swimming required to see the good stuff. The gentle conditions make it comfortable for snorkelers of any experience level, including first-timers.
